Jay: My next guest, beautiful and talented young actress stars in the sitcom For Your Love. The show kicks off a new season September 17th on the WB network. Please welcome Dedee Pfeiffer.

Jay: There you go. Hey, you look great.
Dedee: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Jay: Now, I find if you don't wash your sweaters in hot water, they won't shrink on you like that.
Dedee: Exactly.
Jay: Right detergent, wrong cycle. No, no, that looks great. I'm just being silly. Hey, you're a pet nut. I read this, right? He brought his goat and --
Dedee: Yeah, he brought his goat.
Jay: What do you have?
Dedee: I should have brought my iguana. You put my iguana and your goat together --
Jay: Really -- an iguana? Is that like a fun pet?
Dedee: No, but he's become more fun now that he's learned how to jump off his tank in a swan dive and hit the floor and run through the house like the large iguana that he is.
Jay: Now, what are we talking, like this?
Dedee: Now, he is this big.
Jay: Really?
Dedee: Yeah, and is tail is like this thick. And he has learned how to slap you really hard with it and -- right in the face the other day, that was me.
Jay: Now, does he seem to know you? Does he know you as well as the goat knows him?
Dedee: Yeah, I saw that. Probably as well.
Jay: Now is there any fun? Can you go here -- what is the name of the iguana?
Dedee: Frak.
Jay: Okay, Frak. That begs a question.
Dedee: Yes, it's Frik and Frak. Frik we found another home for because Frak was beating up on Frik. And Frik used to turn black because Frak used to pump his neck out at him and stuff. It was a whole long story. So, we felt sorry for Frik turning black and everything, and so we got a new home for him. Now we have the evil one, Frak.
Jay: Oh, so you have Frak.
Dedee: Yes, we kept the mean one.
Jay: Oh, okay.
Dedee: I wouldn't give him to an enemy.
Jay: Oh, all right. You have a lot of animals, right?
Dedee: I have a rottweiler, a boxer, a pitbull, and four ring neck doves, an iguana, 20 coy fish.
Jay: That sounds like a Christmas song.
Dedee: 20 Coy fish. And today I heard we just adopted a tarantula.
Jay: Now, "we heard we adopted a tarantula," what does that mean you heard? What, do you have people just finding animals for you, like agent animal?
Dedee: Exactly. A friend of ours is painting the house. And because we have all of these strange animals in the house, he came to my husband, he said, "so you guys have a pet spider?" Oh, and he's like, "no. Is the tarantula loose?" "Tarantula?!" So they went to go run for it, and now it's gone. It's somewhere around or in or --
Jay: Oh, that's pleasant.
Dedee: Yeah. We are hoping that the two cats catch the tarantula.
Jay: Oh, you have two cats?
Dedee: Two cats.
Jay: Oh, so you literally have the food chain in your home.
Dedee: We actually do. The dogs keep cats away from the birds, and the dogs keep the cats away from the iguana, nobody wants to get around the iguana.
Jay: Right, and you're at the end. That's neat to be at the end of the food chain. You don't want to be second from last. Because that is a killer.
Dedee: That's bad.
Jay: It's tough sleeping, yeah. Now, do you spend a lot of time at the zoo? Are you a zoo person? Do you do all those kind of things?
Dedee: Well, I went to a petting zoo one time. It was for a charity fund-raiser.
Jay: Right.
Dedee: I have no children of my own. So all these kids are in the petting zoo...
Jay: Wait a minute, you go to pet the kids?
Dedee: No, no, no.
Jay: You don't pet the children?
Dedee: No. Nice baby, nice baby.
Jay: I though you meant a children's petting zoo.
Dedee: No, I'm down to the pot belly pig and the goats and all of that. And one time I had long hair, and I was down to with my nieces and nephews and I felt like this tug on my hair. And I reach up. And all of a sudden there is this ostrich and he has a big hunk of my hair in his mouth. And it's like half of it is hanging out the side. And I go, "hey, listen, buddy give me back my hair." My nice and nephew are like, "oh, bad ostrich. Bad, bad, bad." "It's okay. It's okay." And I'm try to calm the kids down. And this thing is going just going at my hair 100 miles an hour. And it's going -- and I'm saying, "I'm going to be fine. Mr. Ostrich won't hurt me." And then all of a sudden he finally let go. In the car later on. I said, "oh, what is that?" And I went like this. And it was just all over my hair, perfectly like scissors.
Jay: Wow.
Dedee: And I look over my head, and my husband says, "don't panic. Oh, she's got a disease. Her hair is falling out." "That's my hair." I couldn't even get upset. I went to Cybill, which show I was on at the time. I went, "how about if we give Rachel a haircut like this short?"
Jay: Oh, man. It didn't hurt when he cut it?
Dedee: No, it didn't hurt. It hurt me my feelings. It could have cost me my job.
Jay: You grew up here, right.
Dedee: Right
Jay: Orange county.
Dedee: Orange county.
Jay: Now did you do the whole Disneyland thing? Everybody in Orange county -- everybody in show business I know has worked at Disneyland.
Dedee: Yes, I have. I was in the 25th anniversary parade, and I played a monkey.
Jay: You played a monkey?
Dedee: I have a lot of energy if you haven't noticed. They said put her in the monkey suit because she can survive. I don't think anyone else can survive. And they did. Actually, the whole suit was like this thick, like a carpet.
