Summary | Emily Hall is a bright and talented but frustrated novelist whose book constantly gets rejected by publishers. Faced with the problem laden reality of her unsuccessful life, Emily lets her imagination take her down the road of wacky and ineffectual ways to kill herself. But, before she can find an acceptable form of suicide, Emily finds herself thrown into a volunteer job at a local hospital where, with her faithful dog Sam, she visits sick and terminally ill patients... Comments | Finely structured with an easy pace, this is a subtle, amusing and quite moving film. Look for it to be broadcast around the December holiday period where its tone and message will appeal. Wonderful stuff.
Buffs can spot the third Pfeiffer sister Lori, playing the part of Liz in the restaurant scene where Emily's friends gather to celebrate their upwardly mobile lives. What does Emily have to celebrate that day? Too funny to spoil here! The charm of this film is enhanced by its alluring music. Sample some cool vocals from Alison Abrohams and Kellie Thompson below.
