in the studio tonight, Dedee Pfeiffer star of NCB's new romantic comedy "For Your Love".
You may also recognize Dedee from her role in "Cybill" as Cybill Sheridan's eldest
daughter. Let's all welcome Dedee to the show!" 

HSHost says "Hi Dedee! How are you? It's so exciting having you here tonight!" 

Dedee says "Hi Rebecca! I'm doing great :)" 

HSHost says "So glad to hear it!" 

Dedee says "This is gonna be fun!" 

HSHost says "Tell us about the show." 

Dedee says ""For Your Love", channel 4, 8:30pm starting next Tuesday. A
romantic couple about 3 couples in 3 different stages. The marrieds, the honeymooners,
and then the commitment phobics. A reality based series with a lot of humor. Great
timeslot. My character is Sherry and I'm the wife of the married couple. D.W. Moffett is my
husband. Sherry and Dean (characters) are not stereotypical of a boring married couple.
Far more interesting than most married couples. Far more interesting than I am as a
married person!" 

Dedee laughs . 

HSHost laughs. 

HSHost says "How long have you been married?" 

Dedee says "A year. There's a lot of me that's like Sherry, but I'm also like the
honeymoon couple. Holly Robinson is the wife of the honeymoon couple. She's amazing.
She had twins 3 or 4 months ago and her body is amazing. She snapped back into shape
as if she never had kids! Extremely inspiring." 

HSHost says "Yeah, I saw the most beautiful, thinnest woman ever and she had a new
baby! I was like, Hello! I wanted to throw up." 

Dedee says "I know!, me, tool." 

HSHost says "How old are you?" 

Dedee says "I'm 34." 

HSHost says "Oh, you're young yet!" 

Dedee says "According to which clock you're looking at." 

Dedee chuckles in amusement. "Either my clock is broken, or ... to have children
you have to be selfless and I'm newly married, working on the series and have so many
animals. I have 2 dogs, Rottweiler and a Boxer. And, two cats. Two ringneck doves." 

HSHost says "Oooh, do they make noises?" 

Dedee says "Yeah, a little cooing. The little girl dove likes to laugh when she finds
something funny." 

HSHost says "That's nice." 

HSHost chuckles in amusement. 

Dedee says "Then the token Iguana. He's 2 1/2 feet now. He has his own tank and
my husband and I are making him a larger enclosure. He's outgrowing the 100 gallon
tank." 

HSHost says "Is he a good boy?" 

Dedee says "Well ...." 

Dedee chuckles in amusement. 

Dedee says "His nickname is Mr. Personality. My husband and I do volunteer work
for Wildlife Emergency Response. Funded by volunteers and private organizations. If you
were walking down the beach and saw a stranded seal, you'd call us and the volunteers
would be called and we'd go pick it up and take it to a care center. It would be cared for
and put back in the wild. It's for sea life, birds, deers. There are federal laws saying that
you can't get within a certain range of the animals. The people are trained and work with
people that can take care of the animals." 

HSHost says "Is there a number?" 

Dedee says "Here's the number: WER (Wildlife Emergency Response) ...." 

HSHost says "Have you ever been called to get an animal?" 

Dedee says "(310) 457-WILD. Yes! My husband and I saved 4 seals in a week once!
It covers a large range of area ... all up and down the coast ... the people who volunteer
know who to contact. They can hook you up to who can take care of the animals." 

HSHost says "I think it's so great that you do that! Wow (saving the seals) that's great!" 

Dedee says "It's such a great feeling, the animals look you in the eyes and don't
know what you're doing with them. But, then when they're healed, somewhere in their
soul it all makes sense." 

HSHost says "If you weren't an actress, would you be a veterinarian?" 

Dedee says "If the schooling wasn't so hard, yes I would. My vet is great, he is so
thorough and tells me what to look for. I can tell the difference between a real danger and
then something minor. It's a good idea to know about your animals." 

HSHost says "You're gonna be a good mom, someday!" 

Dedee says "I'm a great aunt! 7 times." 

HSHost says "Oh my goodness! So, you're a mother from afar." 

Dedee says "Yeah, they call me Auntie Mame." 

HSHost says "Let's talk about you more ...." 

guest315 asks "What made you choose acting as a career?" 

Dedee says "To make a long, long story short ..." 

Dedee chuckles in amusement. 

Dedee says "When I was 18 (many moons ago) all the teachers said to the seniors,
what are you gonna do with your life? I didn't know what I wanted at that time, so instead
of going to college and wasting a seat for another student, I chose to work full time 'til I
figured out what I wanted to do. I've had so many different jobs ... I had to say to myself,
what is it that I wanna dedicate the rest of my life to and will mentally stimulate me. I
switched my jobs frequently cause they became stagnate. I danced in the Disneyland
Parade. I was a delivery person for a radiator company.," 

HSHost laughs . 

HSHost says "Nah ah! Hilarious." 

Dedee says "Mud Wrestling cocktail waitress, retail .... Food waitress, receptionist
at a hair salon ... Box girl at a grocery store ... it goes on and on. But, I'd kind of become
bored and I started them not knowing how to do them, then I'd tackle them, then my
question became am I going to become the manager of this store, and thought I don't
wanna grow old this way. So, my sister Michelle is an actress and was doing well but not
as WELL as she's doing now! She's HUGE! It's very funny to have a sister who's that
huge!" 

Dedee chuckles in amusement. 

Dedee says "So, I thought I'd try acting. And Michelle told me to get into acting
first. To get my feet wet. I studied for two years before I tried to get an agent. I studied
with Peggy Fury. She's no longer with us, God Bless her soul. Roy London, who's also up with
Peggy in heaven. Quite a few acting coaches, actually. I don't believe there's only one way
to approach acting. The more training you get, the better you can be. You have to mould
and adapt to how everyone works. After 2 years, I interviewed and got an agent. I was so
terrible at it! I would stutter, break out in hives ... similar to what I do now, actually." 

HSHost laughs . 

HSHost says "Cover up those hives with long sleeves!" 

Dedee says "Yeah, trying to act not nervous. To this day, I find it challenging on a
day in day out basis. I stumbled into and it stuck like glue on the bottom of my shoe. I've
tried to quit and I just can't leave because I find it really ... incredible to move people in
one way or another, laughter, crying, hatred, love, frustration ... whenever they can be
stimulated, it's important to growth! To just exist is really dangerous. Entertaining is part
of allowing people to check out of their day in/day out life." 

HSHost says "To just want something else for a minute ..." 

Dedee says "Yeah, so many different kinds of things can change people's lives." 

HSHost says "Yeah, for me, I love when I'm moved by an actor or actress. That's what it's
all about for me." 

Dedee says "There are so many people out there who have never been on screen,
but move you in real life. Some of those are able to get to the screen or the rest of us have
one or two of those people in their life." 

HSHost says "What was your first role?" 

Dedee says "I played a $10 hooker. A very sleazy sad hooker. I did not have my
SAG card. You have to earn it. You have to do a union movie to get a union card. You can't
get into an interview though, without having a card. Someone has to give you a break.
Anyway, the agent got me an interview and I got this small role on a MOW. This is after
having bombed numerous times in interviews! And they called me and asked if I was in
SAG and I said, no that's been the problem. They said they'd call me back and then they
gave it to the other girl who did it just as well. They gave it to her and I was crushed. So,
Michelle went to John Landis and told him the story. She was working with him." 

Dedee says "He told me to show up on the set and wear sleazy clothes and threw
me in front of the camera and gave me a few lines and then they'll give me my SAG card.
He told me it'd land on the editing room floor and I didn't care cause I just wanted the SAG
card. Then he called me a month later and told me I was a funny actress and left the scene
in the movie. I have to thank John Landis for giving me a shot. I was about 20 then." 

HSHost says "Wow, that's so great!" 

Dedee says "What apartment was I living in then?" 

Dedee chuckles in amusement. 

HSHost chuckles in amusement. 

ExciteUser asks "shanone: I would love to be an actress! do you have any advice on how
to go about becoming an actress?" 

Dedee says "Yeah. I think that .. it's funny cause I was given this advice and when I
took it I was happy, when I didn't it bit me in the butt. Study your craft and give it all you
got. But, have a life outside acting. It will enable you to focus better if you have something
else to take your attention away from it. If you're obsessed with it too much, you can
choke it. If you're acting, taking classes, doing everything you can, that will already be a
lot." 

Dedee says "Actors are passionate to begin with, you can trust your passion is
there, you don't need to go overboard. Take a sculpting class, find organizations to be
involved with, build houses, I don't know! Have a side interest ... it keeps you centered
cause the industry is really crazy and can disillusion you as to what's real. And, it will
keep your mind and soul open to the world outside of acting which is where you're going
to get your best characters and idiosyncrasies. Not from Hollywood parties." 

HSHost says "Absolutely." 

WilliamMiller asks "What do you like to do in your spare time? Hobbies, causes..." 

Dedee says "I really ... like today I took a 2 1/2 hour mountain bike ride. You just
find a big hill and take your bike and go. I love to snowboard. I broke my ankle last year! I
had new bindings and then switched to the old fashioned ones ... I'd never broken a bone in
my life. But, this year I'm going to get back on the mountain." 

HSHost says "Good! You can't. You've gotta push through that." 

Dedee says "Yeah, I quit smoking 6 months ago, and now I'm this exercise freak!
As much as I was smoking, now I'm exercising!" 

HSHost says "Can you throw some of that vibe my way!" 

Dedee chuckles in amusement. 

Dedee says "Well, being an actor, you have to do it. If you gain 10 pounds it's just
your friends and family to deal with , but if you're an actor, you get it all over the papers
and magazines! We're just normal folks, but we get humiliated! The whole world says, "Oh
wow! Pfeiffer's butt is getting big!"" 

Dedee laughs . 

HSHost laughs . 

HSHost says "What's it like for you to be in the public eye?" 

Dedee says "I find it so flattering! Even after 15 years, the fact that someone will
stop during their day and write someone they don't know to compliment them is great.
Even when someone writes a little mean letter ..." 

Dedee chuckles in amusement. 

Dedee says "But, it's amazing that people do that!" 

HSHost says "It's great! Seriously loyal fans out there!" 

Dedee says "Yeah, actors forget that. I've never forgotten that. I smile and wave at
paparazzi. I think they're doing their job. At the worst, all they've done is snap a picture
and print it. On a healthy day, I'll laugh at it, on a fat day ... I'm like, "Oh you know!
...."" 

ExciteUser asks "shanone: what time and channel does For Your Love come on?" 

HSHost says "For those of you who are joining us now, we're chatting with Dedee Pfeiffer
who's on the new show "For Your Love."" 

Dedee says "Great name, Shanone. My real name is Dorothy Diane. That's where
DD comes from." 

Dedee chuckles in amusement. 

Dedee says "We're premiering this Tuesday night, channel 4, 8:30pm right after
Mad About You and before Frasier. The first episode is funny, but the episodes afterwards
get more funny." 

HSHost says "Yeah, you get a camaraderie going and it just builds. You watch episodes
and you think the cast has grown so much!" 

Dedee says "Yeah, ...." 

HSHost says "Your hair gets cuter!" 

Dedee says "Oh, I know! I look at the pilot ... but ..." 

Dedee laughs . 

HSHost laughs . 

HSHost says "You're like, "Oh ... bad move!"" 

ExciteUser asks "gimmel: how busy do you get, being on two sitcoms at once, how do you
manage your time between the two and have a life on the side?" 

Dedee says "Actually, I'm no longer on Cybill." 

HSHost says "I didn't think so." 

Dedee says "I did it for 3 years and had an incredible time. "Rachel" went as far as
she could. She moved to Boston. I started to read for other TV series, and "For Your Love"
was one of the few I read for. I read my butt off and got it! People thought I left Cybill
to go to this show, but they were two completely different gigs." 

HSHost says "That's good! You didn't have to give something up." 

Dedee says "Yeah, I feel extremely lucky. In this industry, the unemployment is
90% To be one of the few that works you're very lucky." 

Dan_K asks "I loved you on "Cybill." Was it fun to work on?" 

Dedee says "YES. Thank you, first of all for loving me on Cybill. I had a great time.
Alicia Witt who plays Zoe, to this day we're like sisters. We played Backgammon and
sitting around "gidging" (our word for gossiping). We were like family! The crew was great.
Rachel was fun to play because she was so like "miserably funny" in her marriage. Unlike
Sherry, who I'm playing now ... She and Dean are very happily married. But, Rachel and
Kevin were always fighting!" 

Dedee laughs . 

Dedee says "It's great for me to play someone differently. Sherry's trying to spice
up her marriage all the time! She's always getting into trouble in a really fun way. I'm pretty
much naked in almost all these episodes. In patsies in front of the crew for the first 3
weeks." 

HSHost says "Gotta have a lotta nerve to do that!" 

Dedee says "Yeah, once you show someone your pasties ..." 

HSHost says "You're bonded for life!" 

ExciteUser asks "ShyGuy14: hi how do u feel when u make a show do u get nervous" 

Dedee laughs . 

Dedee says "Hi Shy! Yes. Every show I've ever done, I get huge butterflies, anxiety
that I'll go up on my lines, and the chronic fear that the audience will not respond or like
you. I have that every show. I don't know if any actor gets over it completely. They learn to
live with it. I've found a way to channel it in to my acting. I had a coach who told me that
instead of working so hard to get rid of it, which is impossible, the best thing is to learn to
use it. I can give her more energy than I naturally have, cause I'm using it as extra energy." 

WilliamMiller asks "what's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to you on the
set?" 

Dedee says "If there was a pill that got rid of nervousness, we'd all take it! Oh my
...." 

HSHost says "Pasties are embarrassing to me but ..." 

HSHost chuckles in amusement. 

Dedee says "Okay, I gotta good one, in one of the episodes of "For Your Love" ,
picture the stage, you're in the audience looking down, there's a queen size bed. Sherry
and Dean were getting into bed, I'm on the left side .. on the left side of the room, there's a
window. The camera was there and when I turned away from Dean, the camera would
shoot at me. We had an argument about his 15 year Playboy collection. My character says,
"I don't understand why you need that!" I had a nightie on, took the covers off, turned
away from him and the sheets grabbed my nightie and pulled ... so when I turned my
nightie stayed forward ..." 

Dedee says "D.W. Moffett had his body on top of the covers, so when I turned I had
no covers and my breasts were hanging out in front of the camera! It was a live audience! I
know from my training not to break character! I have a little "jewelry" there!" 

Dedee laughs . 

HSHost laughs . 

Dedee says "So, I turned and thought aaaahhhh! And, grabbed them with my arms
.... and luckily I'm not that well endowed. Luckily, the scene ended shortly after that!" 

HSHost says "Good! So you weren't exposed the whole time!" 

Dedee says "The audience was clapping and going nuts and I thought it was
because of that. I spoke to the director and he saw that my face was burgundy and I told
him what happened and he said, "No, no! We didn't see anything!" I thought, Oh my my my
my!" 

Dedee laughs . 

HSHost says "That's hilarious! I LOVE that story!" 

ExciteUser asks "Vorlon34: just wanted to say that I think you're great, beautiful and
charming, love your work, don't stop" 

Dedee says "Oh thank you! That's sweet." 

Dedee smiles.

Dedee says "In Orange County. Southern California in Garden Grove." 

HSHost says "I don't even know where that is." 

Dedee says "Near Anaheim, which would be Disneyland." 

HSHost says "Oh, I know where that is!" 

Dedee says "Yeah, now I live in LA with my animals and husband. My husband is a
computer consultant." 

HSHost says "So, he's online now?" 

Dedee says "No, we're waiting for a second line. So, he's bummed. He's a
consultant for Apple Macintosh computers." 

HSHost says "Great!"

Dedee chuckles in amusement.

WilliamMiller asks "What was your favorite role you've been in?" 

Dedee says "Oh, thanks! The role I'm playing right now. Sherry is so inspirational
when it comes to if there's ever been a man or woman who thought about getting married,
is dating or thinks about getting married, she's inspirational. She works at keeping it
interesting and has a lot of passion about it." 

Dedee says "She LIKES her husband. I LIKE my husband so much, too. I brought
that to Sherry and D.W. Moffett saw that and we both jumped on it. This admiration they
have for each other." 

HSHost says "Do you and your husband have that?" 

Dedee says "Oh yes! I admire what he does with computers and he admires my
work. The way he takes things apart ... and with me, the way I can hit an emotion ... We
compliment each other like the yin and the yang. The writers are so smart, this is a realistic
relationship. Sherry and Dean rag on each other just like a regular married couple but not
demeaning. There is that familiarity that comes across, like "Yeah, Honey, that was a smart
choice!" But, there's this other dynamic that's stronger. The drive to keep the relationship
interesting. They try to keep themselves interesting." 

HSHost says "True. Our typist doesn't think so. She's got bitter feelings about this man
that she's seeing who's a schmuck." 

Dedee says "If he's a schmuck, say bye bye! If they're not cutting it and not giving
you what you need ..." 

HSHost says "Clip 'em!" 

Dedee says "Yeah, they're on a different path. I dated guys who didn't get me and I
didn't get them, but you try. I learned what I needed to. If I can get married, anyone can get
married." 

HSHost says "I'm getting married!" 

Dedee says "You are? That's great!" 

HSHost says "I have the best fiance in the whole world." 

Dedee says "Yes it is. I think it's hot. It's about time!" 

HSHost says "Much needed." 

Joanee asks "How do you feel about working on a multiracial show?" 

Dedee says "4 are African American and two are white. It's so refreshing. It's an
organic relationship that these people have. It's not about THAT. It shouldn't be!" 

HSHost says "It's about friends .. neighbors!" 

Dedee says "Yeah, we're all trying to just get it. Deal with problems that come into
your life or whatever." 

HSHost says "It's so needed and you're in uncharted territory! Hurrah from me!" 

Dedee says "Thank you!" 

Joanee asks "Has there ever been a role that you turned down that you later regretted? Or a
role that you took that you later regretted?" 

Dedee laughs . 

Dedee says "Joanee ... um ...." 

Dedee ponders thoughtfully. 

Dedee says "I can't say that there's been a role that I turned down and regretted.
There have been some that I've taken and had a hard time with the project, but I don't
regret them because in the broader picture it all makes sense. Other things were
supposed to have happened instead. I live my life like everything happens for a reason.
Even if life is atrociously bad." 

Dedee says "I've had some wonderful and some really horrid things happen. You
have to take the bad with the good cause it's all part of it. I think that I'm not the only one
this stuff happens to. The only control I have is how I feel about the decisions afterwards.
Hopefully, I'll be smarter next time .. do it again until I learn." 

guest315 asks "What was the most challenging role you've played?" 

Dedee says "The role in a movie I just completed a few months ago called "The Sky
Is Falling." Teri Garr is in it, she's my mom. It has to do with a little dog. I had to deal
with issues that were very close to me in my real life. It's an independent film. I hope it
does really well." 

HSHost says "When can we expect to see it?" 

Dedee says "They're just finishing the editing and scoring now, so I haven't seen it.
But, the making of that film will to date be the hardest I've ever done. I had to go to places
that are really scary to me. Which is one of the reasons I wanted to do it. I read for it, and
read for it. I knew that doing it would be conquering a huge fear for me. It was able to
jumpstart the series for me which is a comedy. Whereas the film, enabled me to go to the
darker places and now I've gone to the wackier places! It's like you reap the benefits of
working out really hard, which is painful." 

HSHost says "Exactly." 

guest315 asks "Do you prefer working in television or film and why?" 

Dedee says "Great question. I love TV and features both. When I was younger, TV
scared me cause I'd audition for TV and I didn't ever really do well in the auditions, so I
didn't do a lot of them. I did features. So, my passion was features. But, the older I got I
realized it was crippling me, so I did it cause it scared me. I worked harder on my TV
interviews, so I got more TV jobs. Now, I have to say eliminating my TV fear, I love them
both equally." 

Dedee says "There was a time I preferred films cause TV scared me so much. It's a
fast pace, if you're not on you'll come off looking really bad. You don't get the luxuries to
do things over and over again like in film." 

HSHost says "Right." 

ExciteUser asks "Unablonder: which do you prefer to do, comedies or dramas?" 

Dedee says "Interesting name." 

Dedee smirks. 

Dedee says "I prefer whichever comes to pay the rent!" 

Dedee chuckles in amusement. 

HSHost says "Anything you'll throw my way, I'll love it!"

Dedee says "Ahhh .... okay. I'm not above this ... I would want to work with Brad
Pitt. There. I said it!"

Dedee says "Yeah, try and explain that to my husband! I'd give my left arm to work
with Tommy Lee Jones. I think he rocks! Ah! I just love him. Will Smith, he's adorable! The
list goes on and on . . . Kevin Bacon." 

HSHost says "He was on the show, him and his brother, Michael." 

Dedee says "He was? Well, tell him I wanna work with him! I'm ready!" 

HSHost says "I'll tell him to give you a call!" 

HSHost chuckles in amusement. 

ExciteUser asks "ltlflwr: dedee I have to say that I respect your life philosophies very
inspiring" 

Dedee says "Awwww, thank you! And, I love that they named themselves ltlflwr!" 

HSHost says "It's not spelled out but I figured it out!" 

ExciteUser asks "kcm1: what were your goals in life when you were growing up?" 

Dedee says "Somehow I was going to blink my eyes and get a lot of money and a
large piece of land and go around the world and get all the animals from off the street and
let them all live a good life! Feed them all, and take care of them all!" 

HSHost says "Me, too. And, so did our typist, Michelle. But, I also wanted a huge library!
And a huge dictionary to translate any language!" 

Dedee says "I think that people who are bilingual are amazing!" 

HSHost says "Me, too! And, I'm not!" 

Dedee says "It inspires me. Makes me wanna go back to school." 

HSHost says "In Europe it's required. You have to know 2 or 3 languages. They're taught
them." 

HSHost says "Here it's like 2 years of Spanish in high school, but it's not mandatory." 

Dedee says "Yeah, had they made me take it, I would have taken it. I would have
wanted to ditch the class, but I would have taken it. And it'd be so helpful in my day to day
life." 

HSHost says "It's embarrassing, I went to Mexico with my fiance and everyone asked
where we were from and were surprised that we didn't speak Spanish!" 

Dedee says "Oh, I laugh every time I see that Taco Bell commercial with that Dog." 

HSHost says "Yeah! I do, too! I say, "Honey, we need a Chihuahua!"" 

Dedee says "Yeah, I say that, too! And, it's like we need another animal! And I want
a Chihuahua all because of that darn Taco Bell commercial!" 

Dedee laughs . 

HSHost says "Well, Dedee we're out of time! But, please watch Dedee everyone for her
