DedeeP: Hi, everybody. This is Dedee Pfeiffer from "Cybill." I am very happy to be here in this huge chat room. AOLiveMC4: Here is our first question from WayToBe: Question: Who has inspired you most to become an actor? DedeeP: Jenna Rollins (she is an older actress) and Jessica Lange. AOLiveMC4: CillyShirl would like to know: Question: Hi, Dedee. How old were you when you began acting? DedeeP: I started acting 18 years ago. As for my age...let's just say you are as old as you feel and I feel real young today. I am whatever age I need to be for whatever role. AOLiveMC4: Here is a question from Frappster: Question: What is it like working with Cybill Shepherd? DedeeP: It's great. She is really nurturing, she is very much like everybody's mom and girlfriend. We have a blast! AOLiveMC4: BobRGB asks: Question: What do you like doing best -- movies, TV or stage? DedeeP: Stage. I love stage because it is different every night, and there in nothing like the immediate response from the audience whether they hate you or love you. It's still the coolest feeling. AOLiveMC4: SandieToU would like to know: Question: Which male actor would you "love" to work with? DedeeP: Tommy Lee Jones, big time! And Robert De Niro, and Leonard Di Caprio. He is so terrific! AOLiveMC4: Judith36 asks: Question: What do you like to do when you aren't working? DedeeP: When I'm not working I love to snowboard. I love to go on the boat with my fiancee and watch him skurf. I love to play "Brick Layer" on the computer. I have a terrible addiction to "Brick Layer", and play with our two dogs, two cats, two iguanas and two doves. AOLiveMC4: Frappster also would like to know: Question: What do you think about women's roles on television today? DedeeP: Oh, I think that women's roles on television have definitely expanded. There is more opportunity for women in TV then there ever was before. For instance, "Cybill," "Rosanne," "Murphy Brown," etc., etc. AOLiveMC4: DaisyGal inquires about your work days: Question: How long are your work days while filming the "Cybill" series? DedeeP: They vary from 6 to 12 to sometime 14 hours, depending on how heavy the script is. AOLiveMC4: RSSNAVELY asks for an opinion: Question: Who is your favorite comedian? R Scott DedeeP: Jim Carrey! (Laughing) He always cracks me up! AOLiveMC4: MannyUV asks: Question: When can we see "A Degree in Deception?" DedeeP: Good question! I wish I knew, and if I did I would tell you then we would both know. I am usually the last to know. Probably within a month or two. AOLiveMC4: MmarcelV send in this: Question: I saw you in "Up-Close and Personal," but did you like working with your sis? DedeeP: Absolutely loved it! We had a blast! AOLiveMC4: Baytzim21 asks: Question: Does Cybill act nice on the set? DedeeP: Yes, she is very sweet to everyone on the set. AOLiveMC4: Shirly50 asks: Question: Are you related to Michelle Pfeiffer? DedeeP: Yes, I am very related for many years now. AOLiveMC4: Johnnie9 would like to know: Question: How can I get an autographed picture of you? DedeeP: Send your request to: Kelly Bush Public Relations, 7201 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, CA 90046. AOLiveMC4: RSSNAVELY sent in this: Question: How has Michelle help to influence your acting career? Scott DedeeP: Michelle has influenced my acting career in the way like a good friend would influence another. We are very fortunate that we are very close. AOLiveMC4: JdgBean sends in this question: Question: Is it true you starred in a movie with George Clooney and that Michelle is soon to be starring with him, too? If so, what kind of guy is he like? DedeeP: Yes, it's true. George and I did a film years ago called "Red Surf" that we both starred in and he and I have been good friends for many years. George is really talented, really funny and really sweet, and I feel all of his success is well deserved. George has definitely paid his dues. AOLiveMC4: Caddy35 asks: Question: How did you get into acting? DedeeP: That's such a hard questions to answer in such a short space of time. I have been working since the age of 13 -- numerous different kinds of jobs. By the time I was 18, I moved out of the house. I thought I would give acting a shot like anything else I tried. But now 18 years it's the only one job that I am still doing that I really love and that I never get bored with, because it is extremely challenging. AOLiveMC4: Addavis3 asks: Question: Hey, do you think they will enhance your role any in the upcoming season? DedeeP: I certainly hope so. This new season starting up something funny happens to Rachel, Kevin and the baby without giving it away. You should tune in. AOLiveMC4: Here is a question from Caddy35: Question: Are you currently working on any movies? DedeeP: No. We just started our new season on "Cybill." I have just been very busy with that and my mini-farm at home. AOLiveMC4: Afhark asks: Question: Hi, Dedee. What was your first acting role? DedeeP: "Into the Night." John Landis was the director and I played a ten dollar hooker. AOLiveMC4: Detweiler asks: Question: Being on stage must be a rush since you can feel the energy of the audience. Must be more challenging doing TV? DedeeP: Stage is not necessarily more challenging than doing TV because, to do a half hour comedy, an actor has to find the balance between the intimacy of the camera and playing it big enough for the person in the back of the audience. So you don't want to over-act or under-act because it is a sure fire way of killing a joke. AOLiveMC4: Sbcharnic asks a cyber question: Question: Have you ever done a Cyber Chat like this before? DedeeP: I have been in chat rooms a lot. I was first introduced to the computer with chat rooms. I think they are really fun. Because, like being an actor, in a chat room you can be anything you want to be. AOLiveMC4: ShaSha23 asks: Question: What music do you enjoy? DedeeP: All kinds. Truly all kinds. Different kinds of music puts me in different kinds of moods which is good for my acting! AOLiveMC4: Jseba8432 asks: Question: Where are you from? DedeeP: Orange County, California! AOLiveMC4: David225 asks: Question: You seem to get along very well with Cybill. Is your relation ship like that in real life? DedeeP: Yes, it is. AOLiveMC4: FarSidian asks: Question: Who's your fiancee? DedeeP: Greg Fein. He is a computer consultant and is the owner of Macmaniac! I came up with the name. I was very pleased! AOLiveMC4: DBessen asks: Question: What was your most embarrassing moment on stage, TV, etc. DedeeP: Oh, God, embarrassing moment? Years ago when I first started acting I was told a description of a character I was reading for. I either misunderstood it or it was told to me wrong, and I went into the interview with full combat fatigues, plastic grenades around the belt (just complete combat outfit). And went into this interview thinking I was definitely going to get this role, because I thought no other girl would have the guts to do this, to find a room full of men who took a look at me and started to laugh so hard that they almost cried. One man finally broke through his laughter to tell me, "Who told you to dress like that?" and then proceeded to tell me the real description of the role. And it was absolutely nothing like how I was dressed. I stood there feeling like the biggest idiot. I was so embarrassed! Needless to say, I didn't get the role. AOLiveMC4: Cbpadgett asks: Question: Hi, Dedee. I love your work. The only film of yours I have yet to see is "Drive." Will it ever be released on video? DedeeP: Thank you very much. "Drive" was released many years ago and should be released on video already. You might be able to find it in some of the video stores that have an eclectic video selection. AOLiveMC4: A computer question from Gavin Que: Question: What computer do you prefer and or have? Macintosh or PC/Windows machine? DedeeP: Macintosh all the way. We own an 8500 PowerPC! I am an avid Mac fan! AOLiveMC4: BLT923 asks: Question: Where did you study acting? DedeeP: All over. My first acting coach was named Peggy Feury. I studied with her for two years. I then studied with Tom McFadden at the Santa Monica Playhouse and I studied with Bob Carnige and then I studied with Bob Burgos. AOLiveMC4: BuddyAG asks: Question: You say you are addicted to "Brick Layer." Have you gotten hooked on AOL yet? DedeeP: Um, not yet, I already am! I was addicted to AOL before I was addicted to "Brick Layer". I love to email my friends and I love getting mail. AOLiveMC4: Caddy35 asks: Question: Hi, Dedee. Being in acting for 18 years must have made it hard to attend school on a regular basis. How did you do it? DedeeP: This is a trick question to find out how old I really am! I finished school and then I started acting. But I did attend a few extension courses at UCLA when I first started acting because I was not really busy auditioning. AOLiveMC4: LuckyLou7 asks: Question: Every actress gets a bad role or a bad film at some point. How do you reconcile that in your mind as an actress? Have you had roles or films you didn't like or ones you did, but were poorly received? DedeeP: Yes, yes and yes. I view every job I ever had as an actor as a learning experience so if it doesn't do well in the theaters, that's OK, or if it gets bad reviews, that's OK. Because the idea is to walk away from every job a little more wise. AOLiveMC4: JimFMJ asks: Question: How was working with Robert Redford? DedeeP: Really cool (laughing). Really cool! He looks exactly like he does in person as in the movies -- like Robert Redford. He is really classy! AOLiveMC4: WayToBe asks: Question: What are your pets names? DedeeP: OK, our 140lb Rottwieller is named "Bocephus", our 100lb Boxer is named "Orphin", our cats' names are "Billy" and "Toby". The doves' names are "Kenny" and "Sally", and our iguana's names are "Fric" and "Frac"! AOLiveMC4: PDerico asks: Question: Do you feel that you are fortunate by luck to be where you are today, or do you feel that it comes from a lot of hard work and exposure at the right time at the right place? DedeeP: Oh, God, I think it is first, a lot of hard work; second, hanging in there through all the rejection; and third would be luck. But luck has a lot to do with everything. Because, if I was really lucky I would have scored a big job 14 years ago. That is luck! AOLiveMC4: Rainmyth asks: Question: What agency did you go through when you started acting? DedeeP: Oh my, I am terribly embarrassed. I don't remember. That is no comment on the agency. It's been a long day, week, life. AOLiveMC4: MajorDad0 asks: Question: What do you have remaining that you want to accomplish most? DedeeP: In life it would be, to be for the rest of my life productive, healthy and happy. And in my profession it would be to keep people laughing, crying or at least feeling when they watch my work -- even when I am 99 years old, because I have every intention of living to be that old. But I better stop smoking -- maybe tomorrow. AOLiveMC4: We have time for one final question. AOLiveMC4: JCDderby asks: Question: I recently saw an episode of "Dream On" that you did. What was it like to do a series that, since it was on cable, may not have been as restrictive? DedeeP: It was so cool. I hate being restricted in general like anybody, but with my acting when you are working in an arena like a cable channel you can really have some fun. It's as fun to do it as it is for the audience to watch it. I love working with Brian Benben. AOLiveMC4: Many thanks for joining us and taking our questions, Dedee! DedeeP: Thank you very much. I had a great time being invited into your chat room and hope to be back very soon. AOLiveMC4: Thanks for being with us this evening and asking such great questions. Good Evening!
