Dedee in Playboy

Entertainment Tonight

TV actress DEDEE PFEIFFER's newest role is one that's sure to distinguish her from big sister movie star MICHELLE: A Playboy centerfold!

In the February, 2002 issue of HUGH HEFNER's infamous men's magazine, Dedee, the sibling of 'I Am Sam' star MICHELLE PFEIFFER, takes it all off for the first time in her career! "I've had an interesting past, being Michelle's sister," says Dedee, who headlines the Sunday-night WB sitcom "For Your Love" with HOLLY ROBINSON PEETE. She has also had roles in the TV series "Cybill" and many of Michelle's movies, including 'Frankie and Johnny.' "We're best friends, but in the industry, being her sister has become this thing," relates the actress. "'Dedee Pfeiffer, Michelle Pfeiffer's little sister' [is a] tag that's tattooed on my back."

"I figured I'd do this magazine layout to sever that a little bit. I'd rather be known as 'Dedee Pfeiffer who posed naked in Playboy,' than [just as] Michelle Pfeiffer's sister."

For Dedee, the decision to pose nude was part of a newfound self-confidence. "I'm somebody who wasn't comfortable with my body and my sexuality... and I've finally accepted myself for what I am, and what I am not," she explains. But that doesn't mean Dedee wasn't nervous when it actually came time to disrobe in front of a roomful of people!

Posing for Playboy seemed easy in theory, the cover girl explains. "But then, all of a sudden, it's, 'Take it all off!' And you're like, 'I'm too sober for this!

"I was so embarrassed, I started giggling. It was a lot more difficult than I thought."

Will the sexy new spread add sizzle to Dedee's showbiz life? Only time will tell. Meanwhile, the newly married star can rest easy, knowing that leading-lady older sis approves of her bare-all decision.

"She was supportive - she thought it was wonderful," says Dedee of Michelle's reaction to the clothes-free career move. "I think she admires my spunk."

For all the details on Dedee, look for the February issue of Playboy, on newsstands starting Jan. 7th, 2002 ... and catch ET tonight!

Neurotic Tendencies

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Dedee Pfeiffer ("For Your Love") and Gary Cole ("The Brady Bunch Movie") have been cast as the leads in NBC's Kelsey Grammer-produced comedy pilot "Neurotic Tendencies."

Pfeiffer is set to star in "Neurotic" as a struggling New York actress who marries a hot-shot studio exec (Cole) and moves with him to Los Angeles. Lonely in La-la Land, Pfeiffer's character invites several of her New York friends to head West with her.

Other cast members include former "Saturday Night Live" star Ellen Cleghorne, Missi Pyle, Niesha Trout and Meredith Scott Lynn.

While "For Your Love" has been renewed for next season, all remaining segments of the comedy are expected to be completed by July. Pfeiffer, however, remains in second position with "Neurotic," should the WB choose to extend "Love" beyond its expected 100-episode run.

In addition to her role on "Love," Pfeiffer also known for playing Cybill Shepherd's eldest daughter on "Cybill."

Cole's recent feature credits include "A Simple Plan," "A Very Brady Sequel" and "Office Space." On the small screen, he was a regular on the short-lived CBS drama "American Gothic" and starred in the NBC drama "Midnight Caller."
